Genasys Protect ALERT
New Emergency Mass Notification System for Jackson County
Jackson County is launching a new mass notification system called Genasys Protect ALERT, powered by Genasys, Inc. The new system will go live on April 13th, 2024 and replaces CodeRed. City of Jackson residents will still receive general messages from CodeRed, however all emergency alerts will be from Genasys. Genasys Protect ALERT will be used to communicate public safety topics including missing persons, hazardous material incidents, severe weather, evacuations, potential life safety events, etc. If you’re already signed up for CodeRed, you will need to take a few minutes to sign up for Genasys Protect ALERT. This will provide us with up-to-date information.
All residents are encouraged to sign up for alerts at: https://jacksoncountymi.genasys.com/portal/en/register
During the registration process, you can choose the types of alerts you receive and how to receive them, including landline phone, cell phone, text/SMS message and email. During the registration process you have the ability to customize the order you wish to receive alerts. To receive targeted messages by location, we encourage you to add your home address when registering. You can add multiple addresses, for example a home address and work address. The information entered into the system is for the purposes of communicating emergency and official county information only – neither Genasys or Jackson County will share or sell your information.
"As county emergency manager, I've seen firsthand the transformative power of mass notification systems in crisis response. They provide us with the ability to swiftly disseminate critical information to our community, saving lives, minimizing chaos, and ensuring timely and effective response to emergencies and disasters. I encourage everyone to sign up for this great resource,” said, Jason Breining, Director, Jackson County Emergency Management.
