Online Reporting

There are several different incident types that can be reported using the internet. Please select one from the list below and fill out the form to report it. If the incident you are reporting has a known suspect, you should call 911 instead.

Your report will be reviewed, and a Deputy will either call or email you back within 48 hours with an incident report number.   

For any crime in progress or medical emergency, call 911.  

***The below reporting types can only be reported for incidents that occur within the patrol area of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.  Do not utilize this reporting system to report crimes that occurred in the City of Jackson or the following Townships: Blackman/Leoni, Columba, Spring Arbor, Napoleon, and Springport.

Abandoned VehicleA vehicle has been taken into custody by a towing agency because the vehicle was abandoned along a public roadway or private property.A towing agency tows a car because a business or apartment complex called to have it removed. A car is left in the tow agencies lot after being towed from a crash scene.
Car-Deer Car Crash

(Use this form only if the vehicle sustained $1,000 or less of damages.  If your vehicle has sustained more expensive damage, please call 517-788-4200 and press 2 to speak to a deputy Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm EST; call 911 if it is after hours.)
A motor vehicle crash involving a deer or other animal that was struck on a public roadway.You are driving on a public road and a deer or turkey strikes your vehicle.
Identity Theft/FraudSomeone obtaining your personal identifying information and using it to obtain credit, goods or services.Someone obtains a credit card using your S.S.N. or obtains phone service using your personal information. Retail FraudRetail Fraud - FOR BUSINESSES ONLY.A subject conceals items that are offered for sale and makes no attempt to pay for the items while exiting the store. The victim must be a business.
School Bus PassingFor Jackson County residents that do not live in the following jurisdictions: City of Jackson or the following Townships – Blackman / Leoni, Columba, Spring Arbor, Napoleon and Springport.  When a motor vehicle passes a school bus with it's red flashing lights and stop sign activated.
Suspicious SituationAn incident NOT IN PROGRESS that someone would like the police to know about for future reference.You observed or became aware of a suspicious vehicle or person several hours earlier and want to make a report. If you are CURRENTLY observing the suspicious vehicle or person, please call Dispatch at 911.
TheftPersonal or business property taken without your permission by UNKNOWN subject. If you believe you know who stole the property and the offense took place within the patrol area of the Jackson County Sheriff Department, please contact dispatch at 911.Someone stole your iPad or cell phone. Lost property is not a theft.
